Task 9 Review

In this project, I really wanted to finish my original idea from the first year of creating a grav based combat race. This project was briefed as being a sort of advertisement for the College E6 Radio Station. I therefore went through a few ideas on how to make this relevant to the project briefing.

I quite liked the idea of making a reveal at the end of the video. My animation would have the E6 logo as a core component throughout, however this would only become clear at the end. I decided to do this by converting the logo its self into a race track, however I made sure to keep the camera at certain angles as to not give this away. I decided I would reveal this by having both racers race through the camera at the end and then the perspective would switch to a top down view of the track.

I made a story board of my race to get an idea of how the animation would play out. I initially thought this would be difficult timing wise, however once I started the animation, this was not much of an issue at all. I did ultimately put timings in for each frame of the storyboard, so I would have something of a goal time-wise. The storyboard typically only captures key moments within a scene, so I was able to easily set up those moments within an acceptable margin of error which allowed me to hit the 30 second mark with little to no issue.

I did find throughout the animation that I was getting better at animating, which is to be expected, however it did leave me with a few regrets where I would have loved to go back and re-do things. Possibly by making a few animations smoother, such as adding a tilt to the racers as they turned corners rather than them remaining unrealistically upright, but especially during the jump scene, while there is nothing really wrong with it, I would have liked to do something more complex, such as a back flip, however I was already passed the deadline for the project at this point and knew I had to have it finished
